Sitar Tumba Repair
A DIY adventure
Gluing The Large Cracks:
I was looking forward to this part of the project! Earlier, I had practiced fitting these cracks together and I discovered they would all go back together easily. Spreading around large amounts of glue with my bare hands seemed more like fun than a challenge.
I was a bit concerned that the dented area would open up while I moved the cracks into position. Some of the cracks weren't lining up as cleanly as I had hoped, so I had to risk disturbing the work already done by opening and closing the cracks a few times. Also, I needed to open up the largest crack quite a bit to force glue into the smaller cracks running in different directions. After cleaning the area it looked like everything would go together well once the tape held it together.
